crewsHEAD.jpgLloyd Crews is dedicated to keeping Southfield a vibrant, attractive, and sustainable city. He resides with his 10 year old son that attends Southfield Public Schools. He is proud to call Southfield home and believes the strength of our community is in the diversity of its people.  Southfield is a city that is too good not to be great, and he looks forward to serving as your next city councilman!

Crews has over 15 years in higher education administration. He holds a BA/MA in Political Science from Clark Atlanta University and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Wayne State University. He has been employed at Oakland Community College since 2002 serving as Manager of Campus Academic Services, Executive Director of Student Services and currently serving as Dean of Campus Affairs for the Southfield Campus. Prior to working at OCC, he worked as an academic advisor and extension program coordinator at Wayne State University.  His first job out of college was as an assistant manager of the Famer Jack Supermarket previously on Southfield Road.

Crews has devoted significant time and energy to various causes that benefit youth, issues with diversity, sustainability and education. He is active in many organizations, including serving as a Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of South Oakland County; Vice Chair of the American Red Cross Board for Southeastern Michigan; Past President of the Michigan College Personnel Association; Southfield Partnership Council; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. and as president of the Southfield Rotary Club.

Long interested in matters of diversity and inclusion, Crews was awarded the Cultural Diversity Award by the Michigan College personnel Association and the Diversity Champion Award from the Bloomfield/Birmingham Diversity Taskforce in 2006.
